Georgina Standen Sirona Health

Georgina is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and has developed specialist expertise in women’s health through roles in sexual health services and a sexual assault referral centre. She achieved the highest mark in the country in the Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and passed the membership exam for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. She also holds the Certificate in Menopause Care from the British Menopause Society.

Georgina’s approach to women’s health has been shaped by a long-standing curiosity about both the physical and emotional experiences of being a woman. Her interest began early, following a family experience of pre-eclampsia, and deepened during a gap year spent working in a hospital in rural India. There, she was drawn to the labour ward, where she saw first-hand that even without a shared language, presence, reassurance and understanding could profoundly shape a woman’s experience of care.

Her medical training evolved to reflect this dual interest in body and mind. Alongside her general practice training, Georgina completed six months of dedicated psychiatry training at Fountain Way Hospital in Salisbury. This experience gave her a strong clinical foundation in recognising and treating mental health conditions, as well as a deeper understanding of how psychological and biological factors interact. It is this integration that now sits at the heart of her work, particularly in areas such as PMS, PMDD, perimenopause and hormonal mood disorders, where traditional boundaries between “mental” and “physical” health often fall short.

She is currently Women’s Health Lead at Hathaway Medical Practice in Chippenham, Wiltshire, where she continues to advocate for thoughtful, evidence-based and patient-centred care.

Over more than a decade in clinical practice, including throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Georgina has increasingly recognised the limitations of a purely protocol-driven model of medicine. Her own experience of burnout during medical training, and the process of rebuilding her health, reinforced the importance of lifestyle, nervous system regulation and personalised care. This led her to further training in integrative medicine through the UK National Centre for Integrative Medicine and the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine in the United States.

Through Sirona Health, Georgina brings together her expertise in general practice, women’s health and mental health to offer a more joined-up approach. She works with women who feel that their symptoms have been minimised, misunderstood or placed into overly simplistic categories, helping them to better understand their bodies and explore treatment options in a way that feels both rigorous and compassionate.

She believes that when women are given the time, context and clarity they need, they are far better able to make informed decisions about their health. Creating that space is at the core of her work.
